InstaSky — Privacy Policy

InstaSky ("we," "our," or "the app") is a real-time sky map application developed by Stardust. This Privacy Policy explains how InstaSky handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

InstaSky does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data with us or any third party. All data used by the app is processed entirely on your device.

InstaSky requests the following permissions to deliver its core functionality:

Location (GPS)
We request access to your device's location to determine your geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude). This information is used solely to calculate which celestial objects — stars, planets, constellations — are visible from your current position. Your location data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to any external server, stored remotely, or shared with any third party. If you deny location permission, the app will use a default location.

Camera
The camera permission is requested for the optional augmented reality (AR) overlay feature, which lets you see celestial objects superimposed on a live camera view. Camera data is processed in real time on your device. No images or video are ever captured, recorded, stored, or transmitted.

Motion Sensors (Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Magnetometer)
InstaSky uses your device's built-in motion sensors to determine which direction your phone is pointing. This allows the app to display the correct region of the sky on screen. All sensor data is processed locally in real time and is never stored or transmitted.

InstaSky stores the following data locally on your device only:

App Settings: Your display preferences such as sky theme mode, layer visibility toggles, and star density settings are saved using your device's local storage (SharedPreferences). These settings never leave your device.

Favorites: Celestial objects you save as favorites are stored locally on your device. This data is not synced, backed up, or transmitted anywhere.

No data is stored on external servers or cloud services.

InstaSky does not require an internet connection for its core sky viewing functionality. All astronomical catalogs and data are bundled within the app.

Internet access may be used for:
• Reverse Geocoding: Converting your GPS coordinates into a readable place name (city, state, country) using your device's built-in geocoding service. No location data is sent to our servers.
• Opening External Links: When you choose to visit our Privacy Policy page, About Us page, Play Store listing, or Buy Me a Coffee page, the link opens in your external browser. We do not track these actions.
• Sending Feedback: If you choose to send feedback, the app opens your default email client with a pre-filled email. No data is sent through the app itself.

InstaSky does not use any analytics services, tracking tools, crash reporting services, or advertising SDKs. We do not collect usage statistics, device identifiers, advertising IDs, or any form of telemetry. There are no ads in the app.

InstaSky does not integrate with any third-party data collection services. The app does not share any information with third parties for advertising, marketing, or analytics purposes.

The following third-party services may be invoked by user action only:
• Google Play Store / Apple App Store: When you choose to rate the app or view our developer page.
• Device Email Client: When you choose to send feedback.
• Device Browser: When you choose to open external links (Privacy Policy, About Us, Buy Me a Coffee).

These services are governed by their own respective privacy policies.

InstaSky does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since the app does not collect any data, it is safe for users of all ages.

Since InstaSky does not collect, transmit, or store personal data on any server, there is no risk of data breach from our end. All app data remains on your device and is protected by your device's own security measures.

Since we do not collect any personal data, there is no personal data to access, modify, or delete. You can clear all locally stored settings and favorites by clearing the app's data through your device settings or by uninstalling the app.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
