TrueCam — Privacy Policy

TrueCam ("we," "our," or "the app") is an authenticated camera application developed by Stardust. This Privacy Policy explains how TrueCam handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

TrueCam does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data with us or any third party. All sensitive data — such as your location and photos — is processed entirely on your device and embedded cryptographically into the files you capture.

TrueCam strictly requires the following permissions to deliver its core functionality:

Camera & Microphone
Used to capture photos and videos directly within the app. Media is processed entirely on your device. We do not access your camera or microphone in the background, and we do not transmit media to external servers.

Location (Precise & Approximate)
Requested to embed verifiable, cryptographically-signed location data (latitude and longitude) into your captures. The location is never tracked, stored remotely, or transmitted, but it will be publicly viewable by anyone you share the captured photos with, as part of the image metadata.

Photos & Media (Read/Write Storage)
Used to save captured media to your device and to load existing photos for authenticity verification within the app.

Network Access & WiFi State
Used to remotely verify C2PA signatures against web standards or revocation lists, and to load external resources such as this Privacy Policy or the About Us page.

Phone State
Requested to securely bind specific hardware device provenance to the cryptographic signature of the photos. This helps prove the specific capture origin without relying solely on software metadata. It is never used to track your identity or device across services.

TrueCam stores data locally on your device only. Captured photos are saved directly to your local photo library. App preferences are stored via local SharedPreferences. No data is stored on our external servers or cloud services.

TrueCam does not use any analytics services, tracking tools, crash reporting services, or advertising SDKs. We do not collect usage statistics, device identifiers, advertising IDs, or any form of telemetry. There are no ads in the app.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
